Born in Indonesia, Friska Ginting currently lives and works in Copenhagen. She graduated with a Bachelor in Education with a Major in Fine Art and Design from the Indonesia University of Education (Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia) in 2014.

Friska has been painting and drawing for as long as she could remember. After completing her studies, she began organizing and teaching art workshops in Java and Bali and was simultaneously commissioned to create murals for several hotels, restaurants and other businesses.

Now working as a full-time artist, Friska strives to bring out works that are created from the depths of her intuition – citing her inner "muse" as her source of inspiration. From this silent and intimate space, she combines her fine art technique with a mixed media approach to produce works that depict imaginative environments which border between seen and unseen; between abstract and surrealism, conscious and subconscious.

Beyond the strong visual imagery, her works often portray wider global issues that are held close to her heart – most notably the issue of women’s empowerment and equality. Her use of dandelion flowers is an example of this symbolism; striving to delicately balance the forces of beauty and resilience that she believes all women possess.
